»AO3 Reader Latest Developments
In order to continuously optimize the creation and reading experience, AO3 technical team has recently completed three client updates, which are now briefed to all users as follows. All improvements have been deployed in the latest version of the client, the user can be obtained through the official website of the AO3 embedded update channel.
1. Client Routing and Error Prompt Optimization
The intermittent connection prompt (such as "AO3.CUBEART.CLUB HOST ERROR" class information) for some user feedback, we reconstructed the client request retry mechanism and added an intelligent degradation policy.
When non-core service fluctuations are detected, the client will automatically switch to the alternate data channel, while maintaining a clear error code interpretation to help users distinguish between the network environment and the state of the server. This adjustment significantly reduces load interruptions due to route jitter.
2. History and offline cache upgrade
AO3 reader strengthens the classification and filtering function of local reading history, and supports sorting by label, character number and update time. The Offline Caching module is now compatible with more rich text formats and optimizes storage footprint.users can customize the cache cleaning cycle in the client "Settings" to ensure a continuous reading experience for long texts.
Need attention, all cached data is only stored locally on the user device and is not synchronized with the AO3 portal or any cloud services.
3. Interface navigation and accessibility assistance enhancement
Based on community feedback, we adjusted the layout of the navigation bar at the bottom of the client to focus common searches, bookmarks, and personal preference entries into a single-finger accessible area. At the same time, the screen reader's resolution accuracy of work summaries and chapter titles has been increased to 99%, and the contrast theme has been newly increased.
Accesses the AO3 link portal or jumps through the HOME I ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN start page, the client will remember the filtering conditions of the user's last stay to reduce repeated operations. In addition, the session status under the ARCHIVE OF OUR OWN and ARCHIVEOFOUROWN dual domain names is now unified, and the switching portal will no longer trigger re-login.
The above updates will be gradually pushed from now on. In case of an exception, please submit the log through the client's "help and feedback" channel first, or refer to the bulletin board of AO3 official website for detailed version instructions. Thank you for your continued support of the open reading ecosystem.
